chronic knee pain

Over the last year and a half, I have been having pain in both knees. I have tender spots on the lateral and medial sides of both knees. Initially, my OS ordered an MRI of the left knee which showed a significant bone bruise on the medial condyle. However, I have no idea as to where this came from. I also had an MRI of the right knee, which came back normal, despite having pain. I have also had a bone scan, RA test, and a test for lyme disease, but everything has come back normal. To top things off, I was diagnosed with PFS and have just finished 9wks of PT, but continue to have pain.

Has anybosy else had similiar knee issues or any idea as to what's causing the pain?

Re: chronic knee pain

Besides having knee pain, my hands, wrists, left ankle, and elbows tend to ache. I also have tender spots near each thumb and in each elbow. I am having problems with fatigue, headaches, and ringing in my ears. It's really weird because some days I feel almost fine (I also have a neurological issue with my lower right leg, foot, and ankle) and other days I don't want to move. My othropedist ran blood work for lyme disease and RA, but everything was normal. Currently, my doctor is setting up an appt with a rheumatologist. It just bothers me that nobody has figured it out yet, and I was curious to see if other people were/have had similar problems.

Re: chronic knee pain

Ok Lyme tests are almost worthless!!! The best lab in in CA i can't remember the name it starts with a I though. Ra tests can be wrong, and there is 100's of things that can be wrong. I don't know your age, but sometimes pain comes with it. If you think something is wrong, see other doctors, Any different kinds, i had to see over a dozen to get help. Good luck to you.

Fibromyalgia has all of your symptoms. You might check that out.

Re: chronic knee pain

You may need to have a test for metals. I just had a titanium clip removed and my lower back pain is gone. It only took three to seven days for my side effects to go away after I had it removed. I will be removing a titanium pin from my tooth soon. I am almost positive that it is causing me pain in my right hip and leg. I had a Clifford Metal Test which indicated that I am allergic to certain metals. I will be finding out what the titanium pin is coated with. Good luck!

Re: chronic knee pain

I am in my early 20s, so most of the pain isn't normal for somebody my age. I will have to look into getting the lyme test done again and checking for metals..Also I have an appt with a rheumatologist in a few weeks and I am sure he will do more bloodwork. I hope that it's something which can be treated and that's it, I kind of tired of everything being chronic...

Thanks for your advice and input!
