mri results Q - Knee & Hip Problems Message Board

hi all,
if someone can help me. i had a knee mri last fri, called wed, secretary told me dr was out but no torn ligaments or cartilage. i work at the hospital so md looked up results and all i remember was few things.

greater than 50% thining of cartilage
patellar chrondomalacia?
ganglion cyst
fluid
osteo something (not sarcoma)
hyper linear t2

ortho tried calling today, didn't leave message, now i'm kind of freaked thinking that it's something major?

anyone have a minute to respond, ortho said wear/tear of knee, no need for surgery........

sounds like you're just a little low on bone-surface cartilage in your knee. There's not much a surgeon can do about it. Chondromalacia Patella means the cartilage on the back of your knee cap is worn down. A ganglion cyst is harmless and usually goes away on its own. Maybe the fluid and the T2 signals are a result of a minor soft-tissue injury you've had recently in the joint, I don't know.

you've probably just got a dose of natural osteo-arthritis. Take lots of glucosamine and try not to engage in any high impact activities. Swimming and cycling are good.
