Talking looking for advice from anyone who has had both hips replaced in a short time

I had my left hip replaced with a cementless metal on metal hip on Feb 15th and am scheduled to have my right hip done on April 1st. I am scared to death. It is now three weeks, three days after my first surgery and can not imagine at this time having the other one done. So, any advice or input would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, I had both hips replaced but not as close together as yours,My first one was done in April2003 and second one was done in October 2003 thats 6 months, Did they tell you why they wanted the second one done so soon? My Gosh, you have to recover from the first one first.I had problems with the second one but it won't happen to you, My surgery so he said went great but I woke up paralisid and a foot drop, The surgeon said it very rare but that didn't make me feel any better, They said it was a risk of surgery but very rare, Those consent forms need to be revised and a Dr needs to explain better, I had arthritis very bad and that is gone but I am left with a permanent nerve damage and major pain. I am just telling you this so you talk more with your surgeon and ask questions. It's your body!!!! Sorry I just get frustrated with Drs that won't give you real answersI will be thinking of you and wishing you a full recovery
/Diane

thankyou so much for your input. I am so sorry for your horrible experience on your second hip. That just doesn't seem right. Have you talked to other doctors since regarding this happening? Very traumatic.
He wants to do the second surgery right after cuz my hips are so bad. They are bone on bone and if I wait much longer, he says it will be harder and harder to correct 100%. It is hard, you take your Doctor's advice as gospel and assume they know better than you do. I have gotten three seperate opinions and all said the same. I have three weeks to get stronger. I can now walk without the cane (with a huge limp) for about 1600 feet at once. Still hurts tho, especially when I sit a long time or sleeping is the worst. For some odd reason, I am experiencing a lot of pain in my lower back only in the morning when I get out of bed. This definately is a tough surgery and recovery. I am a pretty tough person when it comes to pain, but this kicked my butt!! Thanks again for your input. I truly do appreciate it. Good luck to you.
