Do xrays of knee show muscle?

I had a total knee replacement in Feb of 2008. I feel there is a tear or something in the muscle or ligaments. I had an xray yesterday and was wondering if the xray shows muscle or ligament damage or just the bone. The doctor said I was "still cooking" but the pain is horrible and burns really bad.

Re: Do xrays of knee show muscle?

X-ray does not show muscles or tendons directly, but sometimes the positions of the bones tell the doctor about the muscles. With an artificial joint, you probably can't have an MRI, but X-ray plus detailed physical exam can tell a lot.

Has the pain gotten worse recently? Or has it not gone away since the surgery.

Re: Do xrays of knee show muscle?

Thank you for replying. The pain has never gone away and seems to get worse every day. I had a bad experience with the physical therapist and had to "jerk" away from her 4 times in one session which was only 9 days after surgery. I feel that the jerking did something.
