nearly 6 months after hip replacement

Hi all,im new here seems to be very interesting site so here goes i had a thr almost 6 months ago and ive been doin great,got over surgery fairly quickly and been getting around with no cane since 7 week,back to work as a hairstylist,but recently i have been having lower back problems.I get up in the morning and my back is really sore and stiff i am about 40 lbs overweight and recently i gained a few more im thinking this is the problem but would love some input thanks,scissors

Sissors...you did not mention whether you had back pain
before your surgery for your THR or not. If you did than it
probably would come back . I had my right hip resurfaced and the old sciatic pain came back since now i can straight
and have arthritis in the lower lumbar area. I do pilates to
strengthen core muscles and yoga plus dance. I lost 22 lbs
after the surgery because i can move around now. It would
help if you did loose weight, but i doubt that would eliminate the pain. You are on your feet doing hair so i would try to
rest as much as possible when you can lying down flat to take
pressure off your back....Karen

hi thanks for responding,and yes i did have a bit of back pain before surgery now it seems to have returned i think though i really need to lose weight,i walk every day for about 30 mins which i know is not enough,i was wondering what exercices i should be doing to strenghten my back muscles and get rid of stomach fat

Hi Sissors
find a good pilates instructor who understands how to work
core muscles such as the iliopsoas muscle that supports your
back and how to stregthen these muscles. Pilates is expensive but the results are amazing. I am a dancer and had my hip resurfaced two years ago and am in good shape with the exception of the lower back pain that has returned.
After my pilates for the last three months, my stomach is flat and back is in good shape...Karen
