Supartz injections

Hi Everyone,

I haven't been on here for a while.

I just had the 1st out of 5 Supartz injections in my knee. It's a lubricant. It really hurt because they have to get into the joint. I've had a lot of injections, but this one was really bad and I have a pretty high pain threshold. (I wish doctors would realize that freeze spray just does the skin, it doesn't help a bit once the needle breaks the skin.) A friend of mine knows someone that has had these and said that you don't start to feel better until after the 3rd shot.

I'm dreading getting them.

Any information will be helpful.

Thanks,
AnneBoleyn

Re: Supartz injections

hi anne,
experience. massage the injection site daily and often. they do really hurt. by the third shot in my right knee i was undone. got them to script me vallium to premedicate for the procedure. it helped.
if the shots work you will be amazed at how much better your knee will feel. i was. like i said somewhere else here on the boards, while it was worth it, i won't do it again.
be aware fibro may decide to go there and mess with you. mine did. after it split i was then able to really feel the change in pain. for me it was worth it at the time.
take care kiddo.
peace,
blue
