On-Q-Ball for pain instead of PCA

Last week at my pre-surgery medical testing we discussed pain control for after my left THR surgery. I will not have a PCA like I had for my osteotomy years ago. I will have something called an On-Q-Ball. It is a ballon type thing that pumps local anethetic to the surigical area. The nurse told me that they tape this balloon thing to my clothes and I wear it where ever I go. Has anyone had this? It seems a little strange to me.

I had that with my knee reconstruction/osteotomy 6 weeks ago it was a catheter that went into my thigh, but I also had a PCA, becasue they said that only worked on certain parts of the knee. Like you I've never heard of not having any oral or IV pain meds. How long will you be in the hospital?
