| Hamstring and medial ligament injury
I was down at OPC last week and we went on a two day hike. On the way back down a mountain I stepped over a log and landed my full weight and my large pack weight (it was a two day overnight hike) on my left knee. I heard a sudden pop and my knee collapsed. Because we were so far away I had to walk about 2km to the nearest road to be taken out. About 10 minutes after the injury happened I got really bad pins and needles in my foot and my lower leg went numb.
These symptoms went away once I got back to base and we left to come home Friday, didnt get home until Friday night. I went to hospital on Saturday and the doctor diagnosed me with a sprained hamstring tendon and medial ligament.
I'm on crutches, taking nine pills a day and have a bandage on. Six weeks of no physical activity.
I have two quick questions, does a sprain mean I've torn these parts or simply strained them? My reason being is that I am still in a lot of pain, I think more than what it would be if it was just pulled around a bit. The other one is when I put the bandage in my knee seems to go into spasms. It goes into them randomly without the bandage but seems to be more intense with the bandage on. Any reason why this could be?
