Has anyone had these knee symptoms? Please help!

Hello everyone I really appreciate if anyone could tell me if they have had these knee symptoms or someone else and could help me figure out what I could be possibly dealing with here big thanks to anyone that can help me. My problems started almost two months ago suddenly I woke up one day and my knee just hurt when I walked to the point where all that day I was limping around I was sure that I must have banged the night before or something this went on and on for a week only hurting when I walked , a couple of weeks ago I noticed this really strange sensation when I would bend down it I can only explain it as it felt like I had a an ace bandage around me knee this tight feeling and it hasnít gone away since , its gotten to the point where my knee hurts all the time when I walk ,bend down any activity really I used to walk all the time it was my form of exercise and now I can barely take walking around the grocery store to go shopping. I notice a slight swelling also but nothing major so I donít know what the constricted feeling is. I plan on going to the doctors if I have to but I was hoping someone could might have had these symptoms and know what I might have and if it could possibly go away on its own?

I can't tell you my symtoms were the same, but I did start having pain that was the result of an injury a year and a half prior. The doctor said it's not unusual for the result of a cartlidge tear to show up 1-2 years after the injury if there was trauma at the time.
My pain was more of a deep ache/burning to the area, though. Ask if physical therapy can help, and do your research after your doctor gives a diagnosis. I regret rushing into surgery for my problems. It seems once they have invaded your knee, it's just not the same.

Re: Has anyone had these knee symptoms? Please help!

I have similiar things going on right now that I believe are from strain and overuse of my right leg and knee. When I squat down, my knee REALLY doesn't want to go down-everything feels tight, and sometimes I'd get a "pulling sensation" around the knee. It seems to be overtight muscles that are causing the problem, as sometimes the back of my calf muscle hurts and is tight; other times its the quad muscle that is tight above the knee. I've also been changing the orthotics in my shoes, trying to get one that gives me the most support-I believe that this had a lot to do with it. Ice it and try stretching gently as that seems to be helping me. I'd say that overtight muscles are the culprit, and it is very annoying. Good luck...

Thank you for your responses. Did your knee problems occur suddenly as well? I dont remember injuring myself at all I just woke up with it one morning. I completely agree with you Lulu I've klnown a couple people who it seemed were better off before they had surgery, I'm really scared to have a doctor tell me I need surgery for many reasons but a huge one is gaining weight and not being able to take walks.

I seem to be experiencing problems similar to yours, in one leg only. I also have difficulty going up steps and getting up from a chair. I am scheduled for a muscle biopsy in December and hope it will answer some questions.

Joy,

Have you went to an ortho doc yet? Is your knee warm to the touch at all? Sometimes when your knee feels as if it has an ace wrap around it when you try to bend it but it doesn't that sounds like you have extra fluid in your knee. There could be an easy explanation for this and an easy fix of draining off the fluid, but the only way you'll know is to actually go to the doc. You can also try icing your knee for pain control. If ice isn't you thing and there is no swelling then heat can be used, the thermacare heat wraps work great for about 8 hrs. at a time and can be worn during the day under your pants. Seriously though, go and get it checked out by an ortho doc before something not so bad gets to be something bad.

Good luck.

Thanks I do notice a tad of swelling just enough that I can see that me knee looks off compared to the my other knee, Iíve attempted to ice it before but honestly I canít keep it on very long. I have not been to the doctors at all yet mainly for money reasons and time off of work but I obviously will do what I have to if I dont have a choice. Iím convinced something is wrong though because itís not subsiding its only getting worse now its effecting me if Iím just standing there thereís a sensation like something is moving and crunching in my knee but its not my knee cap and like I said before this tight feeling when I bend down still. Iím 28 and I feel as though I have the knee of a 90 year old as far as stamina. I was really hoping that this was just going to go away on its own I will do pretty much anything to try and avoid surgery or any kind of invasive procedure. Do you think maybe wearing a knee brace along with icing or heat could help it go away? I have and old one a family member got along time ago.

Re: Has anyone had these knee symptoms? Please help!

You have described my knee to a teeeee. I woke up one morning in May with mine hurting and had not done anything to injure it. I am not one to rush to a doctor, most of my aches and pains go away if given enough time. My knee still hurts. I went for my physical in August and my family doctor xrayed my knee and told me she saw arthritis. I don't know your age, but I am 68, so guess I could have some arthritis, but I didn't think one would wake up one morning with arthritis. She told me to take ibuprofin, which does not phase the pain. I have been considering a specialist, but after hearing the post before this one am thinking that over. I also walk for exercise, which I can't do now.
The feeling you get like an ace bandage I also get sometimes and I think it is caused from swelling. I'm wondering if a cortizone shot would help.
