Knee Dislocation- Short and Sweet

Hi, I don't want to waste your time, so I'll just make this as to the point as possible. Today, I was playing football and as I caught the ball, I spun around to juke someone. And my knee cap popped out, and to the side, and then back as I went to the ground. Immediately it felt like I had dislocated it. But, now it doesn't seem to be out of position from normal, and I can bend it and walk on it, except when turned a center way, and it's tender. I believe it dislocated when I spun and then popped back into place when I turned back the other way. Is this possible? And if so, could there be any muscle or joint damage I need to be concerned with? Because my knee kills. And I am a marathoner and really don't want this to be a long term injury. Any advice would be appreciated.

Yes, your kneecap could have popped out of place by doing that. My kneecap popped out simply by standing up from a kneeling position. Has a doctor looked at your knee since the injury? Since you are still having pain, it would be a good idea to have a doctor evaluate it.

Don't have health insurance.. :S

Is there any kind of evaluation I can make on my own?

Another thing.. I now have a sloppy knee cap. Where it moves easily from side to side. Is this a problem?

there's not really anythign you can do to "evaluate" yourself. Unfortunately this will require a doctors checkup. You could have really done some damage and should not put this off.

I had a "sloppy" kneecap as well. Mine was unstable. I needed surgery to fix the problem.
