Patello Femoral Questions
Hi there, I'm a 41 year old woman who is an avid hiker and lives in the mountains. A couple of weeks ago my doctor told me I have patellofemoral syndrome in both knees. I've read a lot about it and plan to lose a bit of weight - after Christmas I guess (though I'm not overweight, not skinny either), I've put arch supports in my shoes due to high arches, added some new exercises (the recommended ones for this problem) to my yoga stretches every day and stopped all the ballet ones I've been doing for years since I've also just learned that ballet is horrible for your knees. Anyway, I'd be very interested to learn from other people with the same problem: 1) does this problem get worse in cold weather? 2) do you treat with ice or heat? my knees seem to like the heat quite well, I tried icing them for the first time yesterday and they were literally screaming out in protest! ugh! 3) does anybody use a knee brace, and what else??.... I can't remember, that's enough questions anyhow! Any handy tips would be appreciated! Thanks.
