post hip replacement

I will soon be able to exceed the 90 degree protocol I have had since my hip replacement. Can anyone tell me if there is a preferred method for putting on shoes and socks? It seems to me that this is the most risky movement to make since one has to bend the hip close to the chest in order to get socks on and shoes tied. I am quite nervous about this and would appreciate any advice from someone who has "been there, done that."
