| crutches and knee catching
Hi,
I'm dealing with a left ankle issue (posting a lot on the foot board). I have bad knees. I had a knee scope 7 years ago for my right knee. I have chrondromalia (sp?) patella in my right knee for sure and most likely my left knee. My knees track laterally and they don't want to do a lateral release b/c my knee caps are "so far gone." I'm ultimately a candidate for "total knee cap replacement surgery." I'm not sure what the correct term for that is...
My question is this. I've been wearing the BIG AIR CAST WALKER for about 2 months for my left ankle. I've been out of that for 2 days now. My left knee cap is starting to catch (it has NEVER done this till now). Can using the crutches for one month and being in that AIR CAST for my left ankle cause a lot of imbalances thus making my knee catch now? I start PT for my ankle next week and I'll bring this up with the PT...but any input would be appreciated.
Thanks!
