need hip replacement

I am 44 years old and was told by 2 different orthopedic surgeons that I need a hip replacement. I am in pain most of the time, although I do have some good days. One surgeon suggested I wait until I am older to have the surgery because somtimes in 10 to 15 years they have to be re-done. The orthopedists will not prescribe any pain medication because they say I will become immune to them when I need them for recovery.

I may not want surgery period, so I called a pain management specialist who said he couldnt see me without a referral from the orthopedist.

any suggestions?
