Question Does your knee replacement look large?

I had total knee replacement a couple of months ago and am very disappointed on the size of the replaced knee. It looks huge and does not look anything like my other knee. My doctor said it will always look this big and he said he warned me that it would be larger than the other knee, but I do not remember him saying that. I am wondering if other people have experienced this also? Or does your replaced knee look like your other knee?

Re: Does your knee replacement look large?

I had a total knee replacement on 1/5/09. My new knee actually measures the same as my other knee but the shape is different. Unlike your Dr., mine claims by the end of the year they will looke the same with exception of the scar of course. I guess only time will tell. Do you think they put in a knee that was too big for your frame? They do have gender specific knees now. Good luck and give it time.

Re: Does your knee replacement look large?

Thanks for your reply. I do believe he put in too big of a knee and I am so disappointed. I have also had lots of swelling above and below the knee, so that prevents getting the motion I would like to have. I requested a smaller size knee before the surgery and he just rolled his eyes. I think the damage is done now and I guess I will have to get "used" to it and probably never wear shorts.

Re: Does your knee replacement look large?

Yes, I also believe that the knee that was I was given is too large. I had a very hard time of recovery and still have trouble with the knee. It definitely is larger than the non-surgery knee. It has been about four years since the surgery. I am thinking about scheduling an appointment with my surgeon.
