Replaced joints and Orencia - Knee & Hip Problems Message Board

I've had bi-lateral TKR for 10 years with little or no problems. Last November I started on Orencia for rheumatoid arthritis and my knees have started to swell and hurt. My left knee started a month after starting and they drew fluid for analysis but found nothing. At 3 months, the other knee started. Now at 6 months, the hurt and are stiff. Implants are fine...pristine according to the ortho. The only change in my meds or anything else is the Orencia.

Anyone??????

PS..once knees are replaced they can't react to the RA so it's not that.

I just got a call from the drug company that makes Orencia. Their review board felt this was a significant adverse reaction and is contacting my doc for further info and testing. So if anyone else out there has had this problem, contact Orencia.

I also have RA and my Rhuematologist wanted to put me on Orencia after Remicade and Enbrel were no longer effective. Due to the high out-of-pocket cost however, I haven't started it. Now, after just having had my hip resurfaced 2 weeks ago, and based on your experience with it, I think I'll hold off even longer. Please keep us posted on what you find out - will you continue on the Orencia? Knowing how few drugs are out there for RA, I truely hope it is not the Orencia!
