Re: When Does The Pain and Stiffness Go After THR?

Hello all. It has been a long time since I have been on here. It's been 2 and a half years since my THR. My scar has all but disappeared and I am so glad to be able to walk perfectly now and feel so much better. It was alot of pain and hardship for couple months after the operation, and i am so truly grateful for the folks on this site and all the reassurance, advice and information I received here. Being mostly alone at the time, it was incredibly helpful to me. Anyone contemplating a THR or having gone through it, it is definitely worth it. Just make sure you do the exercises and the physiotherapy, that part was a lifesaver to me.
Good luck to all and may God be with you in these difficult times.

Re: When Does The Pain and Stiffness Go After THR?

Hi,
Had THR nearly 6 weeks ago by the AMIS method, now walking well around house and use stick when out. Scar, though only 2.5" long was VERY sore for for around 4 weeks (I guess thats because they have to stretch you so much to get in !).
Some pain still in bone and around hip when first taking steps after sitting though eases after a few steps. Can walk up to half mile ok but starts to ache after that. Sleeping is great as can now sleep in any position!
Had a raised toilet seat and frame thing delivered free by local social services but only used it 3 times, horrible thing! Car driving was ok after 3 weeks (Manual Transmission) though I stop every hour or so to walk around a bit.
Hospital don't want to see me till late Nov so we shall see how we go. (BEDFORD UK)
