Re: Menicus Surgery

I have had surgery to repair lateral and medial menicus tear from working in a nursing home transfering patient. My surgury was 4 week ago and I am still in pain and the dr. wants to give me efflexal a series of 3 shots for pain and add fluid to my knee and I have also developed arthritis in there as well from going so long without surgery approx. 11 months while workers comp. decided what to do!! Still cant walk good and have pain and swelling in the left knee as well. One of the nurses I worked with says the arthritis attacks the places that is injured and pain. Thanks for the long waiting period my quality of life is bad. Dr. quoted in his little recorder that eventually I will need a need replacement. I am 49 yrs old and was perfectly fine before the accident!!

Re: Menicus Surgery

Hi effieK:
You say that you injured your knee transferring a patient in a nursing home. Does this nursing home not have a Hoyer lift?

Re: Menicus Surgery

Thanks for your response but I was working in assisted living facility and yes they need hoier lifts but they don't I had five patients there that was wheel chair with no weight bearing legs. But still operate the same way unfortunately. If they had hoier lifts it would be classified as a nursing home. Something isnt right there at all.
