Possible patella fracture?

Last night I tripped and fell on my knee, and throughout the night it got progressively more painful. There is some swelling and pain when I move my knee. I am able to walk, but I limp, and there is pain. I am able to do a full leg lift without any pain. Also, there is very little pain if my knee is not moving. Simiarly, I can touch/poke my knee cap with very little to no pain. Does this sound like it could be a possibe patella fracture? Or is it possibly just a deep bruise?

Re: Possible patella fracture?

If it keeps bothering you I would see a doctor.
I have a Patella problem and it can get pretty uncomfortable, especially after walking stairs. My Ortho told me in May it would take a few months to get over it, but it's still with me. I'm so sick of doctors and their tales.

Re: Possible patella fracture?

I had fallen really hard on my knee with it bent. Went to er exray said ok, dr sent me for mri, sure enough patella fracture non displaced and torn meniscus. That was in June, had surgery yesterday because had to wait for fracture to heal and my lupus to not be so active. So yes it is possible to have a fracture. I was also told the brusing underneath was like honeycomb being smushed together so that could also cause pain. Good luck and get mri to confirm anything.
