| Infection after hip replacement
Hi, new here. Late September I had my right hip replaced. November 15th I had the hip removed and a spacer put in. I am still on IV anbiotics until next Monday, when my pick line will be removed, the following week hopefully I will get my new hip again. I know the cause of my infection was a new medical device that was just FDA approved in July. it was the Prevena Incision Management System. It was a bandage that was kept on after surgery and not removed for seven days, it had a small cassette that was suppose to collect drainage. I had hardly any drainage, a week after this bandage was removed I had to go back to the doctor and he he had drain all the fluid that was left in my thigh, by the way I had the anterior approach hip replacement. Have any of you heard of Prevena. I have been stuck at home now since November 19th when I came home from the hospital and am going crazy. I hope everything goes find the next surgery. My doctor won't be using the Prevena again.
