Stryker Triathalon

In March of 2010 my doctor did a total knee replacement using the Stryker Triathalon. Since the surgery date, I have had nothing but problems with the knee replacement. The pain is still there, the knee is loose (moves from right to left and back), it is unstable when ascending/decending steps, the brusing from the original surgery is still there and the swelling is still there a year later. There is a lot of noise assocated with the knee, clanging and banging when ever I move around. Does anyone know if the triathalon is on the recall list?

Re: Stryker Triathalon

Hi:
Contact your knee surgeon and ask this question. If your replacement is on the recalled list, you should have been contacted already. Please let us know what you find out. Thanks.

Re: Stryker Triathalon

I asked him 3 weeks ago and he has yet to get back with me. My operation was in March 2010. I understand from the internet that the recalls began in April 2010. Don't know why he hasn't gotten back with me yet but it makes me believe that the knees are being recalled! Has anyone out there heard of the Triathalon being recalled?

Re: Stryker Triathalon

Have you tried calling Stryker directly? Some of the web notices have a contact number for questions about the recall. Not sure we are allowed to post such info here.

I had the same knee replacement done in July 2009 and same problems. I am 57 amd was back to see Ortho dr today. Was told my knee cap is moving around alot. I was given RX for knee brace to keep the knee cap in place. Have alot of pain since the knee replacement. I also have alot of stiffness and very swollen. Am waiting for a bone scan and alot of blood work to be done. Was back to see Ortho dr last April and back then it was warm to touch and they claim they found nothing. Range of motion is horrible and need other knee replaced. Please respond. Remi

Re: Stryker Triathalon

I've had my stryker triathalon knee replacement Sept. 8. 2007 and I am sorry to say it is still killing me. I've gone back to my Ortho 4x...xrays done, but showed nothing, everything is in place..yet I have no ROM...cannot bend it enough to get into the drivers side without opening the door all the way and first putting my butt on the counsel to get the leg in.(all done in pain)....cannot sit at a table or in a booth without first sliding in and then dragging in the leg... It will not go back under my seat whatsoever...so I have to sit with it stretched out while sitting in a tight seat. I am so tired of the stiffness..and I do understand it will be stiff somewhat...but when I bend it back, (as trying to get it into the car)..the pain at one certain point is excrutiating! I've told my Ortho all this..but he just seems to think nothing of it...so I am thinking of going to see another specialist. Has anyone else had this much pain? I too have the movement when walking and clicking..and sometimes...this is my left knee....when I lie in bed on my side, and put my knee down on the inside of the knee...there is a terrible pain there. My Ortho once told me it was probably bursitis. I am just so dissatisfied with this knee...and after 4 yrs., I still can't ride a bike...at all!!! Frustrating. I would appreciate any input anyone else would have for me and advice as to what I do next. Thanks!!!!

Re: Stryker Triathalon

I was beginning to think that I was the only one with problems from stryker.I too am still having horrible pain, swelling, clicking, and it gives out on me. I Can't walk or drive short distances. I even had to go to the emergency room 2 weeks ago, because the pain woke me from my sleep. My surgery was 1/7/2009 & its only getting worse!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Stryker Triathalon

had a stryker triathlon total knee put in jan4th 2011...had the femoral component, tibal component and the x3 tibial bering insert....in april I had to be put to sleep so the dr could manipulate my knee....then in june the had to do another scope surgery so they could clean and debridement the knee....in nov I had to have a revision surgery and have the triathlon removed....if anyone can find out if the triathlon has been recalled or would know where to start I would greatly appreciate any info....went to stryker website but was unable to find out any info....I was only 45 when they put it in and now I am looking at possibly fusing my knee or amputating the knee if this revision doesnt take and right know it isnt taking.....

Unhappy Re: Stryker Triathalon

I had a right knee Stryker Triathlon knee replacement Sept. 2010. I could not get my knee to bend back all the way. I also had problems with it going up & down stairs. It caused me to fall about 8-10 weeks after surgery. I didn't fall directly on my knee, but realized that it was getting sore and didn't feel right. The doctor x-rayed it & said scar tissue (summer of 2011). It continued to cause me problems, so when I went back this summer (2012) & after he said the same thing again, I insisted on some other type of xray. After a body scan, I found out that the knee cap had come loose! I don't know what damage has been done, but now I have to have the knee cut open and the kneecap replaced! The doctor missed it on general x-rays, but it was there when he went back & looked again.
Has this Stryker Triathlon been recalled or has anyone else had this same problem? I am not happy about having to go through surgery again!

Re: Stryker Triathalon

I did recent research on the Tri, could not find a Tri recall. I did read how the ortho surgeons who have access to Stryker's computer-aided (Shape Match) system tend to have the best results. I hope your problems have been resolved since your post.
