About a year ago, I was playing basketball, made a quick movement and heard something pop in my left hip. There was no pain at the time, but there was pain starting the next day. I feel my hip pop in and out of place, it is constantly sore, and i cant rotate my left hip to the right without extreme pain. It seems to tense up when I have been sitting for a long period of time. I've gotten multiple MRI's and the orthopedic surgeon said it was fluid gathering in my hip caused by rheumatoid arthritis. I don't want to discount his opinion but he was very dismissive and looked at the MRI for less that 30 seconds, and I find it difficult to believe arthritis can be causes by injury. All my internet "research" points to tearing the tendon, but I don't want to self diagnose. Please help if this has happened to you or if you know anyone who has had a similar problem. thanks!!

That is what they said I had. I went and saw a R/A specialist and they said it was fluid build up due to R/A. Can that be caused by an injury?
R/H cant be caused by injury. There are a few cases where it is a monoarticualr arthritis, that is confind to one joint. Also, hip joints may feel like they are poping out but they can't, it is a large ball and socket.

That seems possible. The RA doctor I went to said there was swelling in the joint, so that could be a possibility. I'll look further into that. thanks james!
