Swollen inner knee - no fluid or pain?
Hi there - a year ago I had a 'hybermobile accident' just stepping out of bed. I had a very sore left knee with swelling on the inside - the whole knee was about 2 inches bigger than the right. I had an MRI done and the doctor confirmed that my knee alignment was 'off' but that i hadn't suffered a dislocation and had no fluid on the knee. I was limping for about 3 weeks but after some rest and some physio to strengthen the thigh/knee muscle the pain went entirely - about 3 months later. However, the swelling is still exactly the same as it was - 2 inches larger than the other knee but with no pain, fluid or difficulty moving it around. Can anyone tell me why this is and whether the swelling will ever go down?
I have a friend that has a similar thing on one of her fingers - her doctor says it is a ligment creating the deformity caused by her artharitis and will always be that way. My knee doctor didn't mention anything about ligaments - just that the tracking problem was all the MRI picked up.
