Re: Knee Surgery Questions
I didn't have a synovectomy, but I did have arthroscopic chondroplasty/debridement and lateral release for Gr. IV chondromalacia of the lateral femoral chondyle. The surgery only lasted about 1 hour (or less), and I went home shortly after (no crutches). I took 1 pain pill each of the next 2 days (Sat & Sun), and nothing but Advil after that. I had surgery on Friday, on Sunday I attended my son's ice hockey game, and on Monday I had my staples removed and was released to go back to work. I opted to take the week off (since I had already cancelled an out-of-state business trip), and spent most of my time icing and elevating my leg. I started PT on Friday (1 week after the procedure) and returned to work full time the next Monday (9 days after surgery).
All in all, it's not been overly limiting. I'm 10 days out, am still walking with a limp, and PT will likely take several weeks. Unfortunately, I don't know what impact the synovectomy would have. Hopefully, someone else will chime in..... Good luck!
