Parameniscal Cyst

Hi everyone,

I'm new to this forum and this is my first post. I had a mri scan of my knee a few days ago and got to know I had a parameniscal cyst. There is however no meniscal tear or any other ligament or muscle tear. I always had pain and swelling on the lateral side of my knee after I played sports or went through any physical exercise but otherwise it appears to be fine. Would I have to undergo surgery to remove this? Is there any alternative to surgery? How long would it take to heal?
