My hubby had his first set of hips for 17 years before they needed replacing. A year after, my husband started complaining and was told everything looked good on the xray. The surgeon said there was debris behind the cup but didn't seem concern. 4 years later and still being told everything was fine, my hubby switched surgeons. The cup hadn't been changed and the break down of material caused an autoimmune reaction resulting in holes in his hip bones. So he had surgery again this time the cup was changed out too, a cadavar graft and lots of screws.
All was great though the dr said because of so many surgeries he would never get the muscles are strong. A few weeks ago, he bent down and when he stood up he must have turned incorrectly and he dislocated his hip. I had to call an ambulance. He ended up in o.r., put out so the hip could be put back in.
The surgeon said if it happens again, he will be put in a brace and then if it happens again after that, surgery to hold it in but it can cause more problems. He's back on the golf course but definitely nervous. Has anyone had repeated problems with dislocation?
