Pain in mucles surrounding kneecap(patella)

Hi all,

I am male and 29. When I try to sit in squatting manner, I feel immense pain in the muscles surrounding kneecap in right leg. While getting up from squatting position has the same affect.Sometimes pain disappears from right leg and appears in left leg. I don't feel any pain while walking/walking upstairs/downstairs. However, bending the legs makes me feel a pain while standing on one feet.I don't fee any pain inside kneecap(Patella).
My life style is not related to heavy lifting of objects, walking long distances...etc. My height is 5'7" and weight is 62 KG.

any suggestions as to what might cause this pain?

Re: Pain in mucles surrounding kneecap(patella)

Well, if it's in the muscles, the solution would probably be stretching and massaging them. When stretching, you need to get all 4 main muscles around your knee, the hamstring, quadriceps, inner thigh and outer thigh. Any good source of information about stretching should have pictures of each stretch. The easiest way to massage your thigh is with a device called a foam roller. I can't quite describe how, look for a video of someone using a foam roller on their thigh muscles.

Or, it could be something else, so if stretching doesn't help, see a doctor.

Well, I usually do Toe Touch workout while standing and sometime resting on hips. Is it enough for stretching the muscles?
Pain areas are limited to muscles around tibia and muscles just before it connects to shin bone. Muscle pain is always sideways not in center of joint muscles.
