re muscle pain above the knee

re muscle pain above the knee .This is my first visit to the health centre and since i have not had any response i am wondering i am being too impatient or am I experiecing what is normal after a knee opeation? Off to the swimming pool ttodo some walking ! Maybe I will be able to walk on water after but would settle for relief from muscle pain

Re: sebastion

Hi there -- welcome to the boards! I don't have a specific answer to your questions about recovering from a knee replacement, but I had several hip arthroscopies and a back surgery in the last few years. I am a little bit younger, so expected to recover more quickly. I still have rough back days (9 months post-op) and bad hip days (15 months post-op). I'm not sure whether the pain you describe is just from being a little sore or something else.

Be careful not to do too much; if you have an overexertion injury, you will probably face a period of total inactivity. Most athletes train by using a ten percent guideline. Find an amount of exercise that doesn't cause pain, then add ten percent per week.

Re: sebastion

Thank you for your response .I continually struggle to obtain the correct balance of activity /exercise to maximise my recovery ,and feel guilty if i do not feel up to it ,so perhaps Ii am pushing too hard! I like the 10% approach and will certainly try that out .Your periods of bad days from op do put my problem in perspective ,and I do thank you for this imformation .I think I need to be more patient .! I hope your recovery continues to improve .Best wishes.
