Knee pain/stiffness when running on pavement, but NOT on the treadmill

Hello,

Let me first say thank you for reading this and for offering any advice. I experience knee pain/stiffness when I run on pavement, but NOT when I run on the treadmill. Does anyone know why that is? Are there any exercises I can perform so I can run outside again? I REALLY miss running outside :/

Thank you again for your help!

mkshilo

Hi mkshilo:

The only thing I can think of is that maybe the surface of the treadmill is "softer" and has more "give" than road surfaces.
