TKR Pre-surgery considerations

I'm scheduled for a TKR in mid-Jan. I've met with the surgeon, had the pre exam/tests done and am pretty comfortable with what to expect. However, I know that the first few days after surgery and the post surgery PT can be painful and I will have to be on pain meds during the early stages of recovery. I have always been prone to constipation and, in searching the various medical web sites, they seem to recommend laxatives, suppositories and fleet enemas (if the laxatives are not effective). I am thinking that it would be wise to take a large volume tap water enema the evening BEFORE surgery so that I can get through the first 2-3 days without bowel problems. The surgeon is non-commital about this. Does anyone have any experience/insight into this as a pre-surgery prep?
