A good doctor will require at least $3,000.00 for the entire surgery. Don't go with a doctor offering some kind of special that says that it will be some low price like $500.00. But, keep in mind that a place like I went to shows cost as low as $900 some. If I understand it correctly, that price is for one of the oldest lasers...I think. Anyway, a good rule of thumb is that you get what you pay for. If you pay just a little for something as important as your eyes, you only have yourself to blame if something goes wrong. Pay for the best and that should run you a few grand. I think I have seen cost anywhere between $3,000 and $5,000. I know it is expensive but, it is your sight they are working to improve.

I paid $2200 for one eye. I only needed one eye, my other eye is 20/20 and I've only worn one contact all these years. But, I had "custom wavefront lasik" with a new laser. They recommended custom for me based on the size of my pupils, etc. Non-custom would have been $500 less.

Hating Glasses is sooo right. You get what you pay for. I read these posts and see all the problems so many people are having. I don't know what doctors anyone used. But, I did my research, went to the BEST doctor in my area, I was willing to pay a high price for it. We're talking vison here. Call me insane if you want!

My procedure was on 12-2. For my check up on 12-3 I was 20/15 and I've held there ever since. I had no pain in recovery. No headaches. No eyestrain. NO BLURRY VISION, ever. No dry eye. I expected some bumps in my road to recovery, I had realistic expectations...but I have had no trouble, at all. It's been wonderful.

I know everyone is different. But, I credit my doctor...someone I put all of my trust in, and I'd pay the same thing again to know I'd have such a great outcome...

I'm in the Boston area and it will cost me $4000. The doctor I'm using is supposed to be the best around and he uses some new German laser that is also supposed to be the most advanced laser available. As I've read on this message board, you get what you pay for so hopefully I hit the jackpot with improved vision. I go in the 31st and i can't wait to throw my glasses out the window of my speeding car (once my vision improves of course). wish me luck...

Hi. I live in Boston and I got my eyes done a couple years ago (each eye twice) and it cost me out of pocket about 2400.00 (1200.00 each eye), but that was after the insurance covered their 50% portion of it. That insurance carrier no longer reimburses for that surgery. My Dr was also supposed to be one of the best, with awards on his wall for back up

But you start with the 250.00 at the initial visit, to see if you are a candidate and then you get the first set of drops. I put the whole rest of the charge on my credit card and paid it that way. There are different types of surgeries. I got the one where they use the laser to cut the flap. There is a new one that doesn't cut the flap at all, it bubbles. Do some research for more info.
