Question Missy - Blurry eyes??

Hi Missy,
I remember talking with you earlier and you told me you had blurry eyes for 3-4 months after the surgery. Did it finally subside?? Could you tell weekly or by 2 weeks that it was getting better?? Did you do anything other than the eye drops, gel at night etc. that helped with the healing process?? I still have a lot of blurriness that is slowly getting better, gets the worse when I go out of the house driving etc. and then drops don't work, it's like they are just strained and tired from the effect of trying to see and shopping etc. This DID improve for you right??? And how is your site now? How would you rate in on a 1-10 with 10 being the best?

Thanks!!! Right now it seems like my left eye is over corrected when a I see from it and my Right eye is under corrected.... I'm just not seeing normal, being patient though I know it can still change... before the right eye was good and the left really bad... now I'm wondering though if they are healing and starting to show how they will end up, since the vision in the right eye seems to have dropped.

any advice or information to share?
Thanks
Cari

My eyes were always able to read super close up, but nowadays after the surgery if I try and do real tedious (spelling?)small work or reading, I get a headache very easy sometimes...like now I have to hold things farther to read. Sometimes I still have a habit of sitting upclose to the computer screen and have to make myself back up. I actually was sitting on my bed (at least 6-8 feet from the computer screen) and was able to read the computer screen. My girlfriend could read it if she strained (she has contacts), and I could read it easily! Little things like that can relieve stress on the eyes I think...if I can read it that far...i def shouldnt be sitting right up on the screen.

Also how is your day vs night vision? My day is good, but still dont like the light too much cause I get headaches...but I LOVE nightime, most people have problems seeing at night but for me its my sharpest time I think. I love how crystal clear stoplights are and all kinds of things. Its like living in a video game every night with top notch graphics haha. Cause I still feel its too good. I just wish my daytime was as good. I figure my night is good because its dark and my eyes have to work less maybe?

Re: Missy - Blurry eyes??

Actually my eyes are the best at night too, still not 100% though, or maybe I'm just being over critical?? But we were coming home the other night and I wanted to rest my eyes from the day, but everything was so clear I spent the whole ride just looking round at the signs and the lights etc..... strange... it was raining even. Maybe it does have something to do with the lighting?? I don't know, but I still have good vision when I first wake up and then blurry during the day and then good at night, but still not up to par as I would like...... but I guess after wearing glasses and contacts since 1st grade I shouldn't complain a lot.. I am functioning now for the first time in years without anything... I just wish it wasn't so noticable off and odd..... and would STOP fluctuating, I feel like I can't trust my eyes at this point..... At this point when I am out I can see the distant signs good with the left eye the one I think is over corrected, and with the right eye they are blurry.... the blurriness shouldn't be there? right? arg...

But you would think at the end of the day your eyes would be dryer and you wouldn't see as well.....?? Because even with contacts I had to take them out, my eyes were dry and tired.... I don't get it. Maybe more of the bloating goes away?? swelling?

I'm so sick of talking about my eyes... somedays I just miss popping my contacts in and out and going on with life... but I'm hoping in time this feeling goes away... !

Thanks again
Cari

Re: Missy - Blurry eyes??

Hi Cari! I hope that you are doing well.

I'm sorry that it took me so long to respond. I think I missed this post somehow. Anyway, my vison does get blurry from time to time... mainly when my eyes feel really dry. I'm pretty sure that the blurriness is caused by dry spots on the cornea. You can't see well through the spots so you get blurry vision and sometimes headaches and stuff. The drops should help you some, but keeping your eyes well lubricated will help the most. It can take some time for the dry spots to heal and go away. My vision is OK right now. Most days are pretty good, but sometimes I get a little blurry. My main problem is the irritation and discomfort that I get from the dryness.

For some reason my eyes are usually best at night also, although I do get some glare around lights, usually b/c of dryness. I don't know why mine feel better at night. It does seem like they'd feel worse b/c they'd be tired. Mine usually feel worst in the morning but I've helped that by wearing a sleep mask and using ointment. I really hope that I don't have to do these things forever but for right now they help.

Has your doctor checked your refraction yet to see if your problems are caused by dryness or by refractive error? Then at least you'd know more of what you are dealing with. You may even want to get a second opinion from another eye doctor. Sometimes they can give you a little more information.

Missy
