Thinking about LASIK... - Lasik Eye Surgery Message Board

My hubby had LASIK last week and now has 20/20 vision. The whole experience was simple for him. He had the best surgeon in LA with the newest/best laser. Now he's 6 days post-op and just uses his eye drops a few times a day. He has no glare/halos/pain...nothing but a little dryness. I'm debating having it done myself. However, my eyes aren't as bad off as his were. Mine are -2.0 and -2.25. Not terrible...but bad enough to require contacts or glasses. I'm a stay-at-home mom nowadays so it's not like my job or hobbies require great vision. So I was just wondering what you all would do in my position. Is it worth the risk? I have a consultation next week. Thanks for reading and hopefully replying!

Got see the doc and see if you are a candidate and then, make your decision. I can tell you, I have no regrets getting the surgery. I am a year and 1 month post-op. I have been suffering dry eye but, I am still happy that I got the surgery. I had 20/40 and 20/60 and now see 20/15 (better than 20/20). I love not having to clean my glasses several times a day. I love not having to sacrifice my eye sight if I want to go out to dinner and look pretty. I like that I can see better now without glasses than I could with them. So, as long as your doc gives you the go-ahead, I say go for it!

Dear DR,
My husband had lasik about 5 months ago and nevers has one complaint. For a majority of people, it's the best thing they have ever done. I had to have PRK. They do not make the flap with PRK, instead, they go through the cornea instead of under it. It has been a not so good experience for me. PRK recovery and pain is quite different than standard lasik. There is no pain with lasik. I recommend the lasik procedure to anyone considering it, but a second thought to PRK. With mine, at this point, I regret doing it. But have not heard that from any lasik patients.

I say "Go for it". Your life will be so much easier without the hassle of glasses and/or contacts!!! Especially if you have little ones to constantly chase after. One less hassle to have to worry about in the morning and evening.

I'm definitely going to have the consultation on Tuesday. I'm pretty sure I'll be a good candidate for it since I just have mild nearsightedness. I'm getting more comfortable with the whole idea as each day passes. Thank you for your reply! I'll let you guys know what I decide

Its not like you have a choice sometimes....if the cornea is thin/shallow...you have to have PRK. How did the consult go?
