Re: -6.00 would you do it?

Hi
I was a -6 in one eye and a -7 in the other, so far I am 20/20 in the left eye, which I absolutely LOVE,,,but the right eye is not as sharp, but the dr. said that I am 20/25 in that eye. I had my procedure on Feb 16, so I am not even a month out yet. It's a BIG change for me, both excitedly and sometimes I am thinking that I wish both eyes were both excellent,,like when you have glasses and everything is perfect. But, I could still improve, but also, I came a long ways already!! I am impatient and a worrier and that doesn't help. I drive my husband crazy, he says to relax and see how I am after the full 3 months is out.
But on the good side, I went to the DMV and I got a new drivers license that does not require me to wear glasses---yay!
I guess if I were you I would go to the consultation and go from there. I really like not wearing glasses or messing with contact lenses,,,I had comfort problems with contacts too, I only could wear them for about 3 to 6 hours.
I hope this helps, I didn't mean to ramble on, but I know how it goes when this is such a big decision, but boy it's nice not messing with glasses.
I hope this has been helpful. Good luck in your decision.
jkm

Re: -6.00 would you do it?

Hi Dssam,

I was a -6.00 and it did take a while for my vision to stabilize. Also, at 9 months post-op I'm still having lots of problems with dry eye. I've heard that the higher your prescription, the increased risk of dry eye since they have to remove more tissue and destroy more nerves, and I think that might have been part of the reason I am still having problems. If you have even the slightest hint of dry eye now (discomfort from contacts, etc.) I would think twice about it. Glasses are MUCH nicer than painful dry eye.

However, this is just my experiece. As you can see, results vary widely and many people absolutely love their lasik. However, with a higher prescription, you will have a slower healing period, which can be hard to deal with for some people. If you are a worrier, just think how much you will worry when your comfort or your eyesight aren't working out that well for several weeks to months. Take your time...this is a big decision. Good luck!

Michelle

Re: -6.00 would you do it?

I also had a -6.00 R & L. I had Lasik on 3/10/06 and its been great and I would def reccommend it. I can see as good as when I wore my contacts. I also had an astigmatism in one eye.
