Question Pain on and off in the eye during healing?

I called today where I had my surgery, and the woman told me I shouldn't be having any pain at all while healing, just dryness. Sometimes I feel like my eyes or eye hurts. I dont know if I am way too sensitive and experiencing anxiety due to vision fluxuations, I am kind of high strung anyway and sensitive. She made me a little worried, altho at my last check, the dr. said everything looked good. So I should chalk it up to dryness and nerves, right?
I am a little over a month post op. Thanks ahead of time for your input.

Re: Pain on and off in the eye during healing?

jkm,
By "pain", what kind do you mean? Is it a feeling like you have an eyelash in your eye? Or is it kind of a bruised pain? I have had both. The eyelashy kind of jabby, stabby prickly feeling can be an eyelash that is either in your eye or just kind of stuck in the wrong position on your eye lid or under your eye. I have had that happen when my lashes get a little sticky from the eye drops. You may also have an eyelash in your eye. But, more often than not, if it is a lashy feeling, it is dryness. They feel the same and unless you can find a lash either in your eye or sticking in a precarious position around your eye, it is probably dryness. Just use your drops and see if it goes away.

If it is almost like a bruised feeling, I am a year and 2 months post op and I still get that feeling now and then. I don't know how far along in your healing you are but, if you are at the point where you can rub your eyes now, you may not even notice that you have been doing it alot and, you may just have bruised your eye a little. I tend to do it now and then. Or, given the time of year, it could be sinus pressure. I think the bruised feeling and the sinus feeling tend to feel the same.

But, if your eye is achey or something, I don't have an explanation for that. I have had that feeling in the past but, only a few times and it didn't last but a couple of seconds.

I hope this helps!

Take care and keep in touch!

Re: Pain on and off in the eye during healing?

After the first couple of weeks passed, I would get this tiny ache in my eye, but it would only last about a minute or two. It would come and go, but it eventually just stopped. I figured it was my cornea adjusting. The doctor was a little confused by this but said everything looked fine (just like in your case). I think dry eyes and corneal adjustments are what my problem was. It wasn't severe, just weird. Like the person before me said, it could be sinuses too. It's hard to say. Mine finally quit after the first month. If it has been a long time for you, I would have them check it more thoroughly.

Re: Pain on and off in the eye during healing?

Hi
Thanks for the input, both of you. I think mine is still adjusting from the actual procedure, I am barely over the one month mark. It does come and go, and I think that it comes more when I worry about how things are going,,,if that makes sense.

What are you using to take makeup off your eyes? I haven't been using much eye makeup out of paranoia.

Re: Pain on and off in the eye during healing?

I use the same stuff to remove makeup that I always have. Biore cleansing wipes. They're great and gentle. Eye went slow with the eye makeup. I started with a little and worked back up to mascara. I was a little nervous to put something so close to my eye for fear that I would poke myself! I'm back to wearing all my makeup again. I'm just really careful not to rub the eye hard when removing it. I just gently wipe it away (the mascara is the tough stuff) and then use a liquid cleanser to rub on and rinse off after that. So far, I've not had any problems.
