| Re: Farsighted + astigmatism
I was +3.75 and +5.25 with astigmatism in the right eye. Had Lasik almost 2 months ago and am generally happy with it. One thing I want you to clearly understand is that the laser treatment for farsighted people differs from that for nearsighted people and therefore, the recovery time is a lot longer. I am told that I have to be on this rollercoaster of fluctuating eye sight for
about 3-4 months. It isn't anything intolerable, but can be ennerving if you don't know what to expect. Sometimes I wake up in the morning and can work on the PC all day without even using glasses, other times I can't even see clearly with glasses ( I bought the +1 magnifiers at the Dollar store). I'm at the point where I really wish it would settle down already, because sometimes I'm even afraid to open my eyes in the morning, fearing that it may be a bad day. You will still need reading glasses either right away or eventually. Having said that, I'm now having more good days than bad days, and I expect to fully heal and have stable vision in about 6-8 more weeks. I'm ecstatic that I can do everything but read very small print now without glasses (for the most part), but fully expect having to wear reading glasses eventually. If you decide to have the treatment, don't get discouraged by all the "instant success" stories you read on here, as 95% of all people who undergo Lasik are nearsighted. You'll instantly see much better than before without glasses or contacts, but you will have a longer healing period with major fluctuations in your vision.
