One week post-op - disappointed - Lasik Eye Surgery Message Board

Too discouraged to go into details. Basically I see worse than I did before surgery. The doc said " everything looks great". I have blurred vision and halos. He said this might be as good as it gets. Handed me some drops and out the door until 2 months.

unfortunately nobody tells you that it takes longer than that for your eyes to heal! it actually can take a good 3-6 months! don't be discouraged, just give it time. the halos and blurriness will most likely go away... they did for me! use artificial tears at least 4 times a day even if you don't think your eyes are dry.... get plenty of rest, and don't freak out if you wake up and everything is clear and then it all suddenly goes blurry at some point in the day.... it happened to me all the time in the first couple of months! what you are experiencing is very normal, nearly everyone i've talked to who has had lasik has gone through very similar things, so don't start panicking just yet! i had similar experiences just after my surgery in dec 2006, and now i see 20/12.5 in both eyes!

Thanks - this board has been a real help to me - I see I'm not a freak! LOL. I have hope I'll get better. My halos already are getting better.

Hi, I'm new to the message board, but I am 2 weeks post op and I too have very blurry vision, but I have been told and from everything I have read this is "normal" I seem to be able to see alot better if I keep the drops in my eyes alot!!! Cheer up, it's only been a week! *hugs*

Hi, I am new to this site - and today is 11th day post-op. I had been discouraged and depressed due to blurry and cloudy vision. Especially since several of my coworkers that went to the same doctor basically told me that their visions became 20/20 on the first day after the surgery!!. I am so glad that I found this board - it has been a great help! My prescriptions were quite bad (-7.25 (R) and -7.00 (L)) - I can drive and function with my new eyes, even though my vision is still blurry.. I am guessing that I am about 20/30 or 20/40. I have been using drops a lot..
Somebody that went to the same doctor last year told me that his vision was blurry until one month post-op when his vision became 20/20. Right now, his vision is 20/15.
