different procedures in each eye - Lasik Eye Surgery Message Board

I had corrective surgery friday, March 20th. I was supposed to have LASIK in both eyes. My first eye (the left one) cooperated perfectly and it was a textbook case. My right eye, however, would not stay still as the suction ring could not hold it centered. My surgeon, who is very well-respected in his field, made the OR decision to perform PRK on my right eye instead. It was successful, but it makes me wonder a couple of things. What should I expect with two different procedures on my eyes? Will either be weaker than the other? Because of the extended recovery time in my right (PRK) eye, will it become lazy after letting my left eye work all that time? Finally, was my surgeon ethical in making this decision?

Interesting. It really should not matter. The R. will take longer to heal but on the plus side you do not have a 'flap'. I was reading that the Air Force will allow PRK but not LASIK because of the flap. Now, as to whether the surgeon should have made that decision...I think my doc would have just done the L. eye and punted. Come back some other day. But in the end, I would think you will be fine. Please post as your eyes heal and let us know how the L. and R. are progressing in relation to one another. No, you should not get lazy eye in the relatively short period that it takes to heal. Think of those who go for monovision(one eye significantly weaker than the other). They do not seem to get lazy eye.

Five days post-op, I'm already seeing perfectly out my left (LASIK) eye. My right (PRK) eye is almost useless as everything's so blurry. I'd estimate 20/20 in me left eye and about 20/60 in my right
