How are your results?

I am just short of 4 weeks post-op. I had the Intralase Lasik done on both eyes on June 12th. Immediately following the surgery my eyes were seeing great! The morning after I was 20/15 in both eyes and maintained that at my 1 week follow up appointment. I started at -4.25 and -4.5.

Lately though I feel that my vision is getting blurrier and blurrier. I've heard that it can take months for your vision to stabalize and your eyes to heal, but wouldn't I have some great days in there as well?

My night vision isn't so great - even inside the house or office with artificial lighting things are a bit grainy and blurry. My doctor said that's the last to return. Outside in the sunlight I see pretty darn well though. I do notice that I can't read street signs as far away as I could before Lasik.

I work on a computer all day and I'm not sure if the eye strain of a computer screen is slowing down my healing process. I try to take breaks and rest my eyes, but that involves closing them for a few minutes which is difficult to do at work. I have another follow up appointment next week but am really getting nervous that I'm going to need an enhancement. I'm getting married in Hawaii in 2 months and am hoping I retain some of my vision so I can enjoy the trip without glasses!

I would love to hear some of your stories and hear about your ups and downs with healing. I'm trying not to obsess over what my eyes are doing, but it's hard not to when you use them all day. :-)

Thanks in advance!!

I join in your request to see how things are going

Had it one week ago & am seeing great in the daylight, but the nighttime starbursts are giving me much grief. I really, really wonder if I made a huge mistake here despite much research. Yes, I read the internet horror stories, but also spoke personally the many people who had it and are thrilled.

How are you doing? Any improvement?

Re: How are your results?

I did Intralase last week, I can see perfect both during the day and the night, no halos, no bluriness, nothing. And as far as the dryness, it's just when I wake up and late at night that I feel it but never really needed to use any tear drops. The only thing that bothers me the last two days is that I have some kind of pain on my left eye which is the kind of pain that one gets when wearing contac lenses and something gets into the eye and is there for the whole day. This very very annoying deep pain if you know what I mean...

Then again it's only one week since I done it and I've read many experiences of many people that said the same thing and then suddenly everything drops appart...I just hope that doesn't happen!

Re: How are your results?

Had my follow up appointment this morning. My right eye is close to 20/15 and my left eye is 20/20-2. Basically because my left eye is my dominant eye and is not seeing as great as my right, this is why I'm not seeing 100% crisply with both eyes. My dominant is taking over.

My doctor said my left eye was more inflamed than my right and that could be why my left is a bit worse. He gave me some steriod drops to use in my left eye for the next week. He said if I don't see any improvement, to come in again.

I also asked him about my night vision and he just reiterated that it's the last thing to come back. And that my eye inflamation could be partly to blame. He stressed to make sure I get plenty of water, don't drink too much caffeine, and not to stress about it because I can't control how my eyes are healing and stress will only slow the process. He also said to make sure I'm using my moisturizing drops even if I don't think I need them.

I'm feeling much better about things this week and hoping these drops do the trick for my left eye. I think if it would just even out with my right I wouldn't be bothered by anything else.

Magika - make sure you're using your drops even if you don't think you need them. Lasik severs the nerves in your cornea and you can't necessarily feel the dryness in your eyes. Most likely the pain in your left eye is your eye telling you it's dry! Try using your drops more frequently in that eye and see if it lessens the pain - can't hurt to try!
