How/Where to get help??? - Learning Disorders Message Board

I have an 10yr old son, we have battled with a couple school subjects. He was diagnosed with ADHD, (currently being treated) but still struggling tremendously in Reading/Comphrehension. The school did test (for special ed.) and found out that wasn't needed - closed the door - he is fine. But all teachers agree, he needs some help. I agree special ed. isn't the answer, but he does need more help than I feel the school is doing. But how do I get the school to help???? His doctor mentioned finding the "parent/student advocate" for my area....How do I do that, we live in Michigan - very small town - do we have one?

Thanks for any input... we need it!

There is a state advocacy office in every state. Language ( not speech ) disorders frequently involve reading comprehension.
