prolymphocytic cll t-cell - Leukemia Message Board

my grandmother has recently found out that she has a very rare form of leukemia....cll t-cell prolymphocytic. from the information i have gathered it looks as if she may only have six months left here with us. the only treatment that may help prolong things a little is capath. i am wandering if anyone knows anything about this rare cancer they could share with me..?? any info would be much appreciated.

Hi Lizzy,

Not many folks with this one. My wife has T-PLL and is currently undergoing treatment with Campath for the second time. In 2001 she experienced a complete remission that lasted 21 months, and is now responding to a second treatment. Campath seems the best bet.

Has your grandmother started Campath treatment yet? The treatment can be rough, but I understand there is a protocol for Sub-Q (injections rather than infusions) that is not so hard on most folks.

T-PLL is nasty, but Campath is a remarkable way to buy time, and I'm told that's important, as new things are constantly in the pipe...
