| does my daughter have leukemia?
My daughter is 12 years old. She was having some joint pain so I took her to the doctor for a physical. Her lyme test came back positive but it was reading that it was inactive. Her Infectious Disease doctor is not convinced that it is not a false positive. She has other symptoms too such as headaches, abdominal pain, always has rhinitis and previously she had frequent nosebleeds. She got her nose pierced over the summer by an RN and it took about 15 minutes to get the bleeding to stop(most nose piercings do not bleed at all). She has had blood work done and she is not anemic but in a matter of 2 weeks her WBC count went from 11.5(which is high) to 12.2. Her father has an auto-immune disease which I know can be hereditary, and she has previously had pneumonia and shingles(which is rare in children) which shows me that her immune system is not very strong. I am awaiting an appointment with hematology/oncology but I was wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience.
