I know this is a old message. How are you doing now? My levels are very close to yours. I have to go see a gastro now.

Re: ALT 202 and AST 84

I stopped all breads, pastas, potatoes, rice, deep fried, sweets or any type of desserts and after 6 months I had lost 28 lbs and numbers were pretty good. At one year with same... weight same as 6 month checkup but the numbers were absolutely perfect! No fun though without any flour products... none.. no white, no wheat... not a freaking breadcrumb or French fry etc etc... lots of salads, yogurt, meats and cheese and veggies and fruit

So glad your doing better now. Wish I could. I'm so addicted to the bad foods.
I really need to lose 40 lbs to be back in shape.

Re: ALT 202 and AST 84

Update. I just had ultrsound a month ago and it went from fatty liver to worsening fatty liver.
The levels are up to Alt 378 and Ast 286.

Does anyone have a make of it? I hardly eat. Mainly breads, canned ravolis, turkey sandwhiches. I like to go get fish sandwhichs at the market.

Re: ALT 202 and AST 84

brandysue, did your GI doc recommend getting a Fibrosure-NASH test? I have had a fatty liver that was discovered on CT Scan about 6 years ago but my ALT/AST was always normal. If anything, on the low side. Then over the past 6 months those numbers have gone up. My ALT has stabilized at about 130 now but was as high as 177 as recently as a month ago. My AST is around yours, 77.

What this blood test does is that it establishes whether you have simple fatty liver, fatty liver that has progressed to fibrosis, to full blown cirrhosis.

Also, have you been tested for all the various hepatitis disorders (A,B,C, Autoimmune, Primary Biliary Cirrhosis)?

Relying on ultrasound and ALT/AST numbers is the right way to monitor you if all you have is fatty liver, but if your losing weight and the numbers are going up, then I would inquire with your doctor about an alternative diagnosis
