Worried sick about Liver Lesions

Any help please. My wife is 33 years old and in perfect health. She went to the ER for a chest infection/ bronchitis. During the Exam they did a CT scan because they were worried about blood clots. No clots were found.
The ER gave her Antibiotics and released her. I was looking at the release paper work from the ER and it srated the result of the CT scan. The results noted two Liver lesion both around 4.3cm and the a MRI was recommended.

We drove back to the ER and ask the Dr. why they did not discuss this with us. The ER Dr. said sorry for not discussing. He did not look concerned and also said he does not believe this is dangerous and to follow up with her doctor.

My wife has been crying all night thinking this a cancer. I looked online and found alot of info. Has anyone went down this road. Is this common thing?

Wife is 33 perfect health. Only take Birth Control pills for 7 years because of Polytic Olvarian Syndrom. No pain at all from any where in body.

I'm also worried sick.

Thank you

Re: Worried sick about Liver Lesions

Hi there. Try not to freak out! There are so many things which can happen to the liver...fatty liver lesions show up ALL THE TIME and they have very little significance. Your liver can also develop spots during an infection, because liver enzymes can fluctuate.

Did she have blood work done? Were her liver labs okay? They can be not okay one day and 3 months later be okay again due to infection.

My suggestion is get her to a GI doctor. They are also hepatologists, liver specialists. They can run all the right tests to discuss what this might be, and probably is or isnt.

I am scheduled for gallbladder sugery Friday. On my CT/MRI and US, it all shows a 4 mm cyst on my liver..my GI doctor says it is absolutely NOTHING to worry about because cysts come and go- and by the way, I eat very healthy, do not drink and have no other illness except for a gallbladder which hates me! Hopefully you are looking at nothing more than this too.

Keep us posted?! Best to your wife.

Re: Worried sick about Liver Lesions

Please see a liver specialist. Hepatic adenomas can be seen in women with prolonged use of birth control pills. I was diagnosed with hepatic adenomatosis four years ago which is multiple adenomas. My diagnosis was found under similar circumstances. I see a liver specialist. I have a two year check coming up. Don't panic, but do see a specialist. Doctors that do not specialize in the liver tend to minimize this due to their lack of knowledge in this area. Good luck to you.

That is great news! The fact that the liver is functioning properly is a really positive step. You might still get an opinion from a hepatologist, but Im willing to bet the spots are nothing!

Best to you both!

That is great news. I agree with the previous post, that, yes, see a liver specialist too. I have normal liver function as well found via labs/blood work. Make sure they determine what the lesions are as well.

Re: Worried sick about Liver Lesions

Wife went today to see her doctor. We requested a referral to a Liver Specialist and she was scheduled for a MIR. Doctor said pretty common thing to be found but will have to do a MRI to confirm. I'll post what happens.
Doctor did check her liver said no tenderness and felt normal. Doctor had no concerns. Just said wait for results.

Re: Worried sick about Liver Lesions

Hello all. My Wife and I met with our Liver specialist yeasterday.

He reassured us about what he thought it might be (nothing serious) but needed to go over the MRI first. He also added since he has been a liver doctor these are very common in young women and has seen a lot in his time and the liason is most likly a Hemangioma, FNH, and HA. He said by far he sees a lot of Hemangioma.

She did her MRI today now we are waiting for results. Omg the stress.
Well I'll let evyone know the results when they are in.

Man tye stress in a killer.....

Re: Worried sick about Liver Lesions

Hi everyone,
I was reading this thread and have a very similar story and am worried sick! My alt was 46 and I just asked my doctor to send me for an ultrasound. She reluctantly sent me and tried to resassure me if we took blood work in 3 months, the level would decrease. At any rate, went for the ultrasound and found out my liver is fatty and I have a 2.8 cm nodule on my liver. I'm
absolutely freaking out because I'm a new mother and don't appear to have any symptoms. My blood work in all other areas was fine this time and also when I had it done 5 months ago. I have an MRI scheduled for the week but I can't calm my brain. Any thoughts on this would really be appreciated! Thanks
