Desperate Mom needing help
Hello to all. My 11 year old daughters father has just been diagnoised with cirrhosis. He has been treated for ascites and a bacterial infection of the stomach cavity. Before I ask my question, let me give you a little history here. Her father told us 2 years ago that he had mulitple myloma (sp), so we sat our daughter down and told her, this was in aug 2002, he told us the Dr said he had until feb 2003. A few months after he told us he never mentioned it again except to tell our daughter that it was in remission. She has suffered a great deal of pain and worry about her dad. Now my question is, when and how should I tell her about the liver disease? I am not going to use the word cirrhosis to her. The Dr will not give us any information on how much time he may have, but from what I have read online and what the Dr has said, he seems to be in a more advanced state of cirrhosis. I am at such a loss here, because I know she is going to suffer a great deal of pain because of what she has already been thru. She has told me that she worries everyday that this day will be her dads last. Please does anyone have and advice for me?
