10cm liver mass

A week ago I learned I have a 10cm liver mass. This was discovered by a chest cat scan while I was being treated for pneumonia. I also have a post going on the lung cancer thread.

My question is this: is February 1st to long to wait for a stomach cat scan? I have known about this for a week now and the wait is making me nuts. What kind of doctor, if the mass isn't related to the suspected lung cancer, would I see? And should I ask for an ultrasound ASAP? I feel like I'm treading water waiting for the cat scan and have picked up from these boards some other tests I should be asking for.

Does anyone have any insight, thoughts, ideas, advice?

You must be very scared. My thoughts are with you.

How old are you? Do they think the lung cancer is secondary to the liver condition?

We're here for you if you want/need.

Re: 10cm liver mass

Thanks for your reply. I am realllllllly scared! This is all so unexpected. I will be 37 on Feb. 5th. I am married and have 2 kids, 10 and 13.

I am waiting for an official lung cancer diagnosis and will see the lung doctor this coming Friday. The appt. has been rescheduled for the 3rd time. I also have a protruding trachea lymph node. Both doctors feel it is likely I have lung cancer. The lung doctor is not aware, that I know of, of the liver mass. I have no idea if the liver mass is cancer since nothing has been done yet. Cat scan is scheduled for 2/1.

MominMass,

I'm so sorry to hear that you are going through this. I have seen lung cancer first hand with many people that I love. You asked what kind of Doc you need for liver. I would make an appointment with and GI (gastroenterologist) specialist. My Prayers are with you. Keep us posted, Lisa

Re: 10cm liver mass

Please keep us posted. You won't go through any of this alone.

I'm a young mother also, and health issues of this severity shouldn't happen at our age. These days, treatments etc., are awesome, and early detection is key also.

You will beat this...

Re: 10cm liver mass

Thank you both so much. At times over the past week I have thought I was losing my mind but this board definitely helps me. I can type all my fears without saying all of this out loud where my kids can hear it, get information about tests etc., and most important, I feel I am being supported and understood!

Mom,

Keep the faith. It's funny where you can pull the strength from at times like this. Rest your head on us if you need to so not to let the kids hear. I'm a mom and I could imagine what you are feeling right now. I beleive in the power of hope though. Lisa
