Can my liver forgive me??

Hello, recently I have went for a physical due to me turning 19 soon and my insurance cancelling to get things checked out. Lungs healthy, heart healthy blood test showed high enzyme counts in the liver.. this really didnt surprise me because about a year ago I was using a dietary supplement called Stacker2 which contains ephedra, i was using it quite heavily due to self esteem problems which have recently been solved with anti-depresants, I used stackers for a little under a year .. about 2-3 a day and during that time I also used NyQuill quite frequently.. as well as alchohol.. pretty much put my liver through hell.. so a year later >now< i am trying to drink lots of water and exercise regularly and maintain a somewhat healthy diet. But I have been having stabbing pains in the lower right side of my back and whenever I drink water I always feel bloated and as for milk if I have a glass im up that night with horrible stomache pains... I am NOT experiencing any loss of apititie or yellowing of the skin, I go the bathroom 1 and some times 2 every day with no complications at all. My eyes appear to be the same color they have always been.. anyways I go for my ultra sound and more blood tests monday and I was just wondering if anyone here could tell me what to expect from this.. or if anyone has been through the same symptoms I have been through and has been diagnosed with anything.. info would be great.. Its really horrible having to wait 2 days until you know for sure whats wrong, thanks.

Re: Can my liver forgive me??

these questions,at least some would be only really be able to be answered by your treating doc.has he told you if your liver damage is severe or mild?what do you actual labs say?you need to obtain copies of all and any lab work ultrasound reports and copies of all your medical records and read thru espescially the docs clinic notes contained in your actual file.this would really tell you just what your doc really is thinking about your overall condition.you have to ask HIM just what you are actually looking at,really, there are so many variables when dealing with any disease that are not always this or always that, doyou know what I mean?if you obtain a copy of your latest labs, the ALT,AST and the alk phos, will be the big key enzymes to look at and see if they are all out of range or just possibly only one.having the AST or ALT out of range is really not all that uncommon depending on what your lifestyle is actually like.but talking with your doc and asking those questions would really be in your best interest right now.please keep me posted on what you find out,and good luck.marcia

Re: Can my liver forgive me??

thanks, im not quite sure what exactly the readings were on my blood.. the nurse really didnt explain much on the phone.. and I dont know if I mentioned the last time I had a complete physical (blood work) was well before my depression and due to that I never had the motivation to go to the doctor.. but finally my mother dragged me in there for the depression problem.. and during that time I had none of the symptoms i do now.

And about the symptoms.. I have a really weird one that I havent seen or heard of anywhere.. its like my stomache is constantly growling, crackling, popping, girggling.. even when I have food/water in it.. and these sounds are really weird and I feel it everywhere.

As for my lifestyle.. it has been not so great.. I had to drop out of school because of my depression problems and had lost touch with the friends I did have while attending (which wasnt many) and since then I have done nothing but sit in my house doing homeschool.. pretty much at the computer whenever i am awake. I know something is wrong with me.. but I just hope its not life threatening because I havent even really lived yet, it would be ashame to go out now.

Re: Can my liver forgive me??

Get an actual copy of that lab report.all your mom has to do is call and ask for it or at the next appt just ask for your own copy, you should be getting these anyway if there really IS something that will require some sort of treatment or even just repeated bloodwork, all of this info is important for your parents to have on hand espescially in case of an emergency and they can take them with them if you haveto go to another doc or the hospital.there could be many many different reasons for your labs to be not in the normal range and not allof them are some sort of doom and gloom type stuff.so try not to worry too much over this,K? please let me know what you find out.Just try and keep your mind busy by doing other things, thats what I do when i start to worry too much about stuff.marcia
