| Re: Infertility and high ast/alt
Hi Jamie
I had infertility issues and never one did my IVF specialist say my elevated enzymes were the cause of my infertility. (and I know they checked b/c they check EVERYTHING) In fact, I was one of the ppl with "infertility with unknown cause" and was told elevated enzymes are common, but had no bearing. Anything you eat drink or breathe can elevate your enzymes, and fatty liver is very very common. Most ppl have it and don't even know it...it is reversed with a good healthy diet and exercise, and it can change back to "normal" enzymes levels within as little as 2-3 months. I'm wondering if your body is just trying to find its normal self aft the surgery and the baby....both those things can take a toll on you (as you well know!!) I had fatty liver abt 3 yrs ago and am not overweight--but I changed my diet and by nature of having twins, (who are now 6) exercised quite a bit, and it's not considered 'fatty' anymore.
The liver is a very resilliant organ and can totally regenerate itself if needed. I had total liver failure last yr and my ast/alt 3900/7900--by rights I should have been dead...but my liver turned itself around and I am here today. (the liver failure was from other things--nothing at all to do w/fatty liver) Did your dr indicate what meant by"get some help" for your liver? Was this your family dr? Congrats onthe baby!!
