I hope someone can help me as I am worried about my Dad. He has hep c but it is supposed to be stable according to his dr. He went to a liver specialist 2 years ago and he said he had a fatty liver and that as long as his enzymes levels were fine nothing to worry about. He always tells the dr that he was never a heavy drinker but that is not true but lately he has cut down a lot. A few months ago he started developing pains in chest and went to a new dr at emergency out patient in another state. Long story short they sent him for a cat scan and I read report. It covered a lot of stuff which seemed quite normal but then it said "hepatic parenchymal appearance suggests cirrhosis and there is no splenomegaly currently and it said there is retrocaval and periportal adenopathy of uncertain etilogy . His dr called back and then my dad said oh the pain has gone. The dr siad have you been drinking a lot lately but he said no and asked why the dr said something about liver but my dad siad oh my liver is being monitored by my family dr end of conversation. So all this to say he still has pain in abdoman although it comes and goes . Should I be worried about the liver? He is very hard to talk to and is 59. Oh yes he says because he had jaundice when in his 20ties that is why he has hep c. I want to help but I think perhaps I am worrying myself and maybe no need to as would you not think the dr would have been more persistant.
