Hi Toosick!

OMG--your story is eerily similar to mine! I know this is SUPER scary for you and your family, and it all seems surreal right now-I want you to know I've been where you are. You can do this and come out of it as well as before it all began. After being in a coma w/AST/ALT at 3900/7900, being placed at the top of the liver transplant list,(total liver failure and kidney failure) I'm alive, here and doing well-w/out a transplant. I would have had one if there was a liver available that first week-but you know how long the wait can be for organ transplants. Please know there is HOPE out there. I have 3 children and a husband, and more than anything wanted to get better for them too. Keep them

in your mind at all times. It helps.
Ok-yes CMV has an effect on your liver. Any virus can & if you had an allergic reaction to an antibiotic, that's a double whammy on your liver. You can become allergic to anything at any time, no matter how often you've taken it before w/out incident. The more things that are attributed to your liver probs, the longer it will take and the harder it is for you liver to heal itself--but it CAN do it. In my case, I had a bunch of different things--and the planets all lined up the day I went downhill. I'm glad you recognized your symptoms and headed to the dr. I didn't.
When I came home from the hosp my #'s were still very high-but they sent me home b/c they began trending down and didn't want me in a hosp w/a lot of germs since my immune system was compromised. How often are they doing your labs? Are you at home or in the hosp? What have the drs told abt the outcome of this--anything? Are they talking definite transplant-and/or the wait and watch? Are you near a hosp that does them routinely? (like a teaching univ )
Hang in there hon-You aren't alone. I'm here if you need to talk-or have any questions! Happy Elf/Gina
